Malaysia Airlines Enrich Value – NLS

At this time we have decided to discontinue valuation of Malaysia Airlines Enrich program. Furthermore, we’re going to assign a semi-permanent value of $0.0015 per mile. This is due in part to a combination of several reasons:

1. One Cannot Book Partner Awards Online

Calling a Malaysian number to book an award ticket might not be the end of the world for some. For others, it might be too much. However, the bigger issue is the fact that without an online booking portal, one has no access to availability or fees. This brings us to our next reason.

2. A Table without Fees is no Table at All

Providing a redemption table is nice, as it provides a very rough guide as to how many miles might be required to book an award flight. However it doesn’t do us much good when attempting to place a value on their miles as we deduct fees from the lowest available cash price. Considering we’ve see booking fees range from $5.60 on some US carriers all the way up to $500.00 plus, we didn’t want to guess.

So How Did we Arrive at $0.0015?

Pretty simple really. As Malaysia does allow online award redemptions for flights on their own metal, we were able to price some intra-asia flights. These were calculated to have a discounted value of $0.003. As Malaysia doesn’t operate any flights directly to the US, we were not able to quote any international value. Thus, our intra-asia/international average is $0.0015.
