Overwater Bungalows: They’re Not Just in Bora Bora Anymore

Most people think of gorgeous Bora Bora when they hear the words “overwater bungalow.” They might also falsely assume the destination is generally off limits due to it’s prohibitively high price tag. Of course, being points and miles travelers, we know this isn’t the case whatsoever. However, that is for another article. But fear not! Bora Bora is just one of the many places where one can treat themselves to the elusive overwater bungalow.

Whether you’re planning your honeymoon or it’s just time for a romantic getaway, you can find overwater bungalows all over the world. And best of all, they won’t cost you an arm and a leg! Here are some other vacation destinations you can choose to get the overwater bungalow experience without going overboard on your vacation budget.

It’s very remote, which is good news for couples that want to be left alone.

Maldives

Reethi Beach Resort – Maldives

Not many would consider The Maldives a budget option. Depending on the time of year, it’s prices rival that of Bora Bora. Nonetheless, it is an alternative. If you can get here, Reethi is one of the most highly-rated resorts. Truly spectacular in design, the resort features 5 restaurants and 5 bars making it a fun choice for couples that love to go out and socialize. It’s worth mentioning that bungalows here share one wall with each other. However, you should know that despite this, they are incredibly private.

L’Escapade Island Resort Noumea

L’Escapade Island Resort Noumea – New Caledonia

If you’re closer to Australia, this is one resort with overwater bungalows that you don’t want to miss. It’s got great prices for the South Pacific too($200/night is not unrealistic). It’s very private and is often likened to the Maldives. It is very mellow, which makes it a great place for taking in the wonderful weather, sticking your toes in the sand and relaxing.
